March 28, 2020

Parents and families,

As you have heard, Governor Kay Ivey and State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey have made the decision to close K-12 schools for the remainder of the school year.

In response to this decision, Autauga County Schools will move to online learning beginning April 6, and we plan to have technology or paper copies if needed in place for all students by this date. I am working with Central Office staff to determine how this will work for all of our families. Teachers have been reaching out to parents to determine if students have internet capabilities and a device such as a smart phone, iPad, Chromebook, desktop computer, or laptop. If they ask you to join REMIND or DOJO, please do so. They can pass along information, and it’s very important that you know how to communicate with teachers during the remainder of the school year.

If you have not heard from your teacher(s) about internet access or devices, go onto our website, - staff websites - teacher’s picture or name - then you will see an email link to send the teacher a message. Please listen to call-out messages for updated information as we work to provide the best opportunities for PLES students. Updated information and lessons will also be on our website,

Thank you for your support during this time.

Mrs. Christen Harry

Pre-K Random Drawing

Updated 3-16-20

The Pre-K Random Selection will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at Pine Level Elementary School. The selection for all six classrooms will be held at this time. For the school year 2020-21, there will be four classrooms at Pine Level and two classrooms at Prattville Primary.

Because of the school closings, there will be no public attendance for this selection process. Those present for the drawing will include Donna Hoomes – Pre-K Director, Anne Moore – Department of Early Childhood Education (DECE) Monitor, and Tammy Horton – DECE Coach.

If your child is chosen, every effort will be made to contact you by email by the end of this week. PLEASE DO NOT CALL EITHER SCHOOL’S OFFICE. In addition to this notification, DECE will send emails notifying you of your child’s status (either chosen or waitlisted) beginning April 16.

**No child will be denied participation based on income, sex, race, color, national origin, or disability.**
