Hi, I'm Dana Hassell. I am so excited to serve as the Reading Specialist here at PLES.   I moved here from Sylacauga, Alabama and I have loved every minute of living in Autauga County.  I have a daughter, Natelee, who is a senior at Prattville High School and a son, Jonah, who attends Prattville Jr. High. I am a graduate from the University of Alabama, and you can find me most days at the ballpark or football fields, enjoying my kids do life.  

My first year teaching was 18 years ago, in a High School English classroom.  After finishing my Master's Degree, I decided I prefered to spend my time in the Elementary Classroom.  I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, and Third Grades all before taking on the role of Reading Specialist.  I love my students, and I have a special place in my heart for students that struggle with reading.  I work very closely with classroom teachers and the Intervention Team to promote a love of literacy within our school.
