About Me:  I have been married to my wonderful husband since 2012, and I have two children (Kohner - 10 & Brooks - 6). We live in Prattville and have three dogs (Ollie, Gypsy, and Niko). In my spare time, I spend time with my family or can usually be found at the ballpark. I LOVE being a boy mama!

Teaching early learners is such a rewarding profession. I love having this opportunity to help set a child's foundation for all of the years to come and watch students learn how to share, work together, solve problems, write, spell, and read. I am passionate about conscious discipline, and I am committed to supporting my students' social and emotional development, enabling them to thrive and succeed.

 Take-Home Books

Your child will soon bring books home several day a week. Please read the book with your child, write the book on the reading log and return the book inside the bag the next day. Reading to your child is very important.  Your child will enjoy it and it will encourage him/her to want to become a reader! When reading log is completed, please take out and place in front pocket of binder.  A new log will be placed in binder and your child will go to the treat box!!

High-Frequency Words

Your child will be required to learn and be tested on 28 high-frequency words this year.  He/she will have to read, spell and write all 28 words by the end of the year.  You will know which word(s) we are working on by reading the weekly newsletter.

Be sure to practice the high-frequency word(s) for the week daily.

The daily binder is a great resource to use!

The daily binder has a reading log so that you can write down any books that you read to your child or that he/she reads to you.  Your child should bring home a paper book every week.  He/she should be able to read the book to you.  Be sure to set time aside each night to read to or listen to your child read.

Per Mrs. Harry – when possible, try to schedule appointments for your child in the afternoon.  If your child checks out after 11:30, he/she will be marked present for the day.

Kindergarten Resources:

Please review and practice all resources in your child’s daily binder.

Read with or to your child at least 10 minutes a day

                               Treasure Box

I use a class treasure box to encourage and reward good behavior.  I am asking your help in keeping our class treasure box stocked.  If you are able to send in items (party favors, stickers, bubbles, fun sized candy), it would be greatly appreciated! J
